The Sleep Edit

A recent report by the Sleep Council has concluded that we’re getting less sleep than in 2013.

The Great British Bedtime Report 2017 reported that 74% of Brits sleep less than seven hours per night while the number of people who said they get less than five hours a night has grown from 7% to 12%.

61% of people questioned reported that sleeping between five to seven hours a night is the norm. This means 30% of the nation is not sleeping well most nights.

The top reasons given for a poor night’s sleep are:

  • Stress & worry
  • Partner disturbance
  • Noise
  • Uncomfortable bed

Speak to any long term insomniac and usually they will have tried most of the advised tricks – sleep hygiene, no caffeine, dark room, exercise, good diet.

But still they struggle to sleep. Is there an answer? Read more

How important is your mattress? When did you last replace it? Do you need a soft, medium or firm mattress? Sprung, latex or memory foam?

Or are all of these things just gimmicks? Read more
