Gait Analysis and Orthotics

Our experienced physiotherapists can provide biomechanical assessments to help identify the root cause of lower back, hip, knee or foot pain and improve the way you move. A biomechanical assessment looks at how your body moves – how your muscles, joints and nervous system work together during everyday activities, exercise or sport.

A key part of this process is a gait analysis, which is essential for assessing your biomechanics and prescribing custom orthotics. We will map the pressure points on the sole of your feet and provide you with a detailed report that can be used to design custom orthotics, where appropriate.

Custom orthotics provisioned after a comprehensive biomechanical assessment can help to:

Physiotherapy aims to help soft tissue injuries, joint and muscular problems that are restricting movement and causing you discomfort.

Treatment focuses on the long term recovery, improving strength, helping to restore movement and function to as near normal as possible when you have been affected by injury, illness or recovering post surgery.

  • Back or neck pain
  • Sciatica
  • Arthritis
  • Swelling in joints
  • RSI
  • Sports injuries
  • Running injuries
  • Cartilage, ligaments and tendon damage
  • Acute low back pain

If your pain problem feels muscular or joint related then a consultation with a physiotherapist is recommended. If you are recovering from a fracture or from orthopaedic surgery, physiotherapy can help your recovery process.

Physiotherapy is suitable for all ages from young children to the elderly.

Physiotherapists use a range of manipulation and massage techniques, electrical therapies and exercise to heal and restore movement. Treatment is administered over a period of time to help you to move better and more freely with less pain.

Improvement is generally expected within the first 3-4 treatments.

Your whole body will be assessed, not just the isolated injury to determine what is needed to return your body back to a certain level of function.

Examination of your posture and movement, and an assessment of your needs and lifestyle also help form a full understanding for you to regain full health and avoid future recurrences.

All our physiotherapists are Chartered and registered with the Health Professions Council. Each has additional specialist knowledge in the fields of acupuncture and sport and exercise rehabilitation.

Our physiotherapists work closely with GPs and Consultants, and are recognized by all the major private health insurance companies including BUPA and AXA PPP.
