I qualified in 1991 from Brunel University. My first job was in the NHS at Kingston Hospital, where I worked on orthopaedic wards and in outpatient services. Following this, I worked in private practice at OMC Citisport in Epsom and ran a corporate service at Nestlé’s head office.
In 1997, I returned to Ireland, where I ran a physiotherapy service within a GP practice in Dublin before setting up my own private practice, Total Physio. I ran Total Physio until 2007 before selling the practice and moving to my hometown of Galway in the west of Ireland. In Galway, I worked at Bailey Point private practice for a year before returning to Dublin and working at The Physio Company until 2010.
I then moved back to London, where I worked for Nuffield Health in the corporate environment until 2016, running clinics for HSBC and KPMG’s head offices in Canary Wharf. In 2016, I started working at the Waldegrave Clinic, where I have remained to this day.
I believe in giving patients a thorough explanation of their diagnosis and their path to recovery. Lower limb biomechanics and gait analysis is the area I specialise in. In today’s world of sedentary occupations, it is so important to include movement in our lifestyles.
The Waldegrave Clinic is a center of excellence where the team is made up of a number of different professionals who support each other and share knowledge, creating a great learning environment for everyone.
I make regular time for exercise and enjoy hill walking, going to the gym, and competing in triathlons. I also love cooking, dining out, and traveling.
While I enjoy trying new food from different cultures, I think you can’t beat a good steak with pepper sauce.
Before lockdown, I was very interested in visiting Eastern Europe, traveling to places like Hungary, Ukraine, Bulgaria, and Estonia. More recently, whenever anyone talks about Thailand, my ears perk up—I’d love to visit this beautiful country.
It has to include a big cooked breakfast and a Sunday roast. Anything else is a bonus.
So many to choose from, but The Shawshank Redemption was a great movie.
